Podshadley–Haley PHP: personal hygiene performance
The Patient Hygiene Performance Index indicates where disclosed plaque remains after personal cleaning. Each index-tooth surface is divided into five zones.
Classical method
After disclosure, each of five zones receives 0 when plaque is absent or 1 when it is present. Zone scores are totalled per surface and averaged across examined teeth.
